Coming Together As A Community!

In this time of stress and uncertainty, community is more important than ever!

If you're wondering how to help, here are just a few suggestions.
The more our community pulls together, the faster this situation will be behind us!

Please practice social distancing, stay home unless it is necessary for you to go out, and follow the recommendations of government health officials!  Everyone needs to do their part to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus!

There are a number of populations in the community that need some extra help right now.  Here are a few ways you can safely give to others during COVID-19:

Consider making a donation to Kids' Food Basket to help them provide food to thousands of kids who typically depend on school for their meals! No child should have to wonder if they'll get enough to eat each day! Click here to donate through our fundraising page.  Many of you have donated already!  Thank you...we're overwhelmed by the generosity of this community!  Bonus:  For every $10 you donate through our fundraising page, you'll be entered to win awesome prizes like a 5 hour lesson package from Sluggers Sports Academy, Dick's Sporting Goods gift cards, Whitecaps Kids' Club Memberships and more!

Have kids spread some cheer to nursing home residents!  Residents of nursing homes can not currently see visitors, but we've spoken to a few homes who would welcome a package of friendly cards, notes and drawings to be delivered outside their door, so if you'll supply those, we'll collect and deliver them!  Bonus:  For every card you contribute, you'll be entered to win Dick Sporting Goods gift cards, Whitecaps tickets, KBL Concession Credit and more!  Here’s how to participate:

  • Write a card or brief note with a positive message or draw a happy picture - something to brighten a resident's day and let them know there are people who care about them!
  • Drop them into the box next to the concession stand door, OR mail them to KBL - 1707 Southampton Dr. Grand Rapids, MI 49508
  • Contribute as many as you'd like, and be sure to attach a separate note for us with your child's name so we can enter you into the prize drawing!
  • We’ll package up all the submissions, and safely drop them off at local nursing homes.

Provide a treat for hospital staff!  The Girl Scout Troops of Kentwood are taking donations to deliver cookies to the front line medical staff who are working so hard and deserve some extra love.  Contribute here.

Save your outgrown baseball and softball gear!  If you're doing some spring cleaning over the next few weeks, hold on to any gear like mitts, cleats, bats, helmets or baseball/softball pants that might be in good shape but no longer useful to you.  We'll be taking donations and passing them on to players who need them just before the season starts!

Hang in there Kentwood!  We'll get through this together!
