Girls C is now live pitch!

Beginning this season, Girls C (9 and 10 year olds) will be pitching!  They'll utilize a modified player pitch, the same as Boys C currently uses.
Girls C previously used a pitching machine, and we're excited to move to modified player pitch at this level, as it is much more effective for player development.

Wondering what modified player pitch is? Click here to read the full rules in Section XVII, but here are the basics:
  • The player pitcher will pitch until the batter hits the ball or strikes out, or four balls are called.
  • There are no walks.  After four balls are called, the defensive team's coach will continue pitching to the batter.
  • If the batter does not hit after four pitches from the coach, the batter will be called out.
  • The dropped third strike rule will not be in effect - a batter will be called out on the third strike regardless of if the ball is caught by the catcher.
We know with this rule change, that both players and coaches will want some coaching and direction on softball pitching.  Don't worry, we'll be providing several opportunities for kids and adults to learn, beginning in March.  Stay tuned!

If you have questions about this rule change, you can email Emily Niezgoda for more information.
